Christina Cody '12 "The audition process for my scholarship introduced me to a wonderful ‘family’ of theatre students and faculty. They spent time getting to know me as an individual and asked about my dreams for the future. That experience made me want to attend Bucknell. This is an intense, creative and welcoming community where people truly care about helping each other succeed." |
Encouraging excellence, increasing access
When you walk Bucknell's campus today, nearly every other student you pass has received a University grant. Many of the best and brightest would not be here without it. Scholarships help maintain the quality of the student body, resulting in a rich learning experience for all.
Scholarships:
-
Help convince the most sought-after students to become Bucknellians.
-
Open avenues for students of all economic and cultural backgrounds.
-
Encourage recipients to provide others with similar opportunities.
An investment that says thank you
Whether you are endowing a named scholarship that will help students in perpetuity or simply contributing the cost of a textbook to the general scholarship fund, you are investing in extraordinary young people. Scholarship recipients seize every opportunity at Bucknell and after graduation.
Why support scholarships?
- Scholarship giving is Bucknell's top strategic priority.
- New scholarship funds raised during the last campaign ($76 million) dramatically increased the percentage of recipients - from 35 percent of undergraduates to almost 50 percent.
- Endowed scholarships last forever and are a wonderful way to honor a parent, child, friend or mentor.
- Smaller gifts can also be directed toward scholarship support.

Did you know that the real cost of one year at Bucknell is about 20 percent more than the comprehensive fee charged to students? A full-time undergraduate student receives a "silent scholarship" of about $10,000 per year. Annual gifts and returns on University investments make up the difference.
