Bucknell University ranks 4th in the U.S. News and World Report Best Colleges 2012. The ranking is based on undergraduates programs specializing in civil engineering.
- Four Bucknell civil engineering seniors placed fourth out of 23 teams in the ASCE Geo-Challenge competition, held in West Palm Beach, FL, during the 2010 Geo-Institute conference. The competition involved teams designing and building a small-scale mechanically-stabilized earth wall out of posterboard, packing paper, tape, and sand. The event was judged on the wall's capacity to support a design load, on the amount of reinforcement used, and on the quality of the design report.
- The four civil & environmental engineering students who designed a fresh water system for a remote village in Suriname for their senior design project returned to the village in June to implement their design. Funds for the system were provided through a $10,000 Projects for Peace grant awarded by the Davis Foundation. The four recently graduated students-Alesandra Agresti, Jon Campbell-Copp, Scott Teagarden and John Trimmer--are being accompanied by two Bucknell staff members, George Waltman in the College of Engineering Product Development Lab and Kristine Kengor in the Office of Service Learning.
