Prescreening for Arts Merit Scholarships
General Instructions
To apply for an arts merit scholarship at Bucknell, please follow these steps
- Submit on-line registration form between July 1 and December 1, 2012 (Link is only active July 1 - December 1: Arts Merit Registration Form)
- File completed application for admission. Instructions and forms available at www.commonapp.org.
- Submit creative samples to department faculty directly between September 1 and December 1.
Important Note
- Although Bucknell University has a Regular Decision application deadline of January 15, 2013, arts merit and music major candidates are required to submit their credentials (common application, transcript, standardized test scores, and other required documents) by December 1, 2012.
Materials Needed
See Departmental Instructions and Expectations for a list of the materials you should send.
Note to Early Decision applicants
- If you apply Early Decision Round I, please submit creative samples to individual department directly between September 1 and November 15.
- If you apply Early Decision Round II, please submit creative samples to individual department directly between September 1 and December 15.
- The Arts Committee will evaluate your materials in conjunction with the Admissions review of your overall application.
Notification
The Arts Committee will evaluate materials and notify candidates of their status on a rolling basis or, at the latest, within two weeks of the on-campus program date for the arts area to which they have applied.
If you qualify as a finalist in the prescreening, you will be invited to register for and participate in an on-campus selection program. Finalists must participate in on-campus selection programs to be eligible for a merit award.
If you do not qualify for an arts merit scholarship, we will continue to consider your application for admittance to the University.
Music Candidates
All music degree-seeking candidates who pass the prescreening must audition in order to complete an application for admission—even if they do not wish to receive scholarship consideration. The strength of the audition is factored into admissions decisions.
Note to music degree-seeking candidates who apply Early Decision:
Please file the application for admission by the Early Decision deadline of November 15, 2012. In addition, after submitting the arts merit scholarship on-line registration form, as well as the on-line form for the music department, please send the requested prescreen materials to the music department directly -- and schedule and attend an audition prior to November 24, 2012. You may arrange an appointment by contacting Mrs. Brenda Ross, music department assistant, via phone at 570-577-1216 or via e-mail at
