Dr. Tom Balistrieri Ed.D. Associate Director/ Psychologist
Thomas J. Balistrieri, Ed.D., LMHC, Licensed Mental Health Counselor. Dr. Balistrieri received his M.A. in counseling from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA in 1975 and his Ed.D. in Counselor Education from Mississippi State University in 1981. He has served as a career counselor, a management development consultant, an NCAA I coach, a sport psychologist and as a director of counseling at three different universities over a period of sixteen years. He utilizes a reality therapy approach as well as Jungian archetypal approach in his work with students to include dream work and hypnotherapy. Dr. Balistrieri has worked with indigenous elders around the world for over thirty years and so brings a multi-cultural developmental approach to his therapeutic work with students.
Nancy Grant M.Ed. Staff Psychologist
Nancy is Licensed Professional Counselor who received her Masters' in Counselor Education from the University of Pittsburgh. Nancy has been a counselor at Bucknell University for 18 years. Her primary interests are college counseling and college student development. She is committed to helping each student reach their goals for self-awareness and personal development through counseling. Her approach is based on the belief that counseling is a confidential, mutual and collaborative process built on trust, honesty and respect. She approaches each student as a unique individual and identifies with them the counseling approach that works best for them as well as their goals for change. Nancy has extensive experience and clinical training in working with college students.
Dr. Marie Shaw, Ph.D. Staff Psychologist
Marie received her Ph.D. in counseling Psychology from the University of Tennessee. Marie utilizes an integrative approach in which she adapts to meet each client's individual needs. She seeks to understand each client's unique worldview that guides their beliefs about themselves, others, and the world. She considers the therapeutic relationship to be a valuable tool and tries to provide a safe, collaborative, and empowering relationship. She tries to do this by being genuinely empathic and balancing challenge and support. Throughout the therapy process, she hopes to empower clients to recognize and use their strengths.
Marie has been trained as a generalist, but has specific interest and experience in working with trauma, body image and eating disorders, LGBTQ population, and interpersonal issues. In addition to being a psychologist, Marie is also a sport psychology consultant. She has training and experience working with student-athletes on performance enhancement, as well as clinical concerns.
Suzanne Domzalski, M.Ed Counselor
Suzanne is a licensed Psychologist who received her M.Ed in Counseling Psychology from Temple University. Suzanne has a strong commitment to helping students realize their fullest potential for health, personal growth and well-being by addressing their specific needs, challenges and life circumstances. Her approach is rooted in the conviction that each person has within him or herself a pool of inner strengths and resources that can be identified, tapped into, and further developed to resolve difficult issues and live a life that is engaging, satisfying and personally meaningful.
As a counselor, therapist and educator for over 20 years, she has in depth training and experience in working with stress, anxiety, problems in relationships, family issues, loss and grief, spiritual issues and depression. In addition to being a licensed psychologist, she is a certified greif counselor, has a certification in mind, body and spirit couseling, is a level II EMDR practitioner and has completed extensive training in stress reduction and relaxation skills.

Dr. Linda Locher, Ph.D. Director of Psychological Services / Psychologist
Linda received her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology (1982) and her M.A. in both Counseling Psychology and Counseling & Guidance from The Ohio State University. Linda works with students to help them identify how that have learned or acquired both problem behaviors and positive behaviors. She works from the student's strengths and then challenges and teaches alternative ways of acting, thinking and feeling that allow the individual to live a more satisfying lifestyle. Linda have been trained in brief or time limited therapy approaches, Cognitive Behavioral Interventions, Psychodynamic theory and Client Centered therapy.

Shallary Simmons-Duncan Ph.D Staff Psychologist
Shallary is a Licensed Professional Counselor who received her Ph.D. from Penn State University in Clinical Psychology. She has over twenty years of college counseling experience. Research supports the development of a therapeutic relationship where compassion, respect, trust, acceptance, and genuineness are considered as a bulwark for progress in counseling. Ascertaining what approach works best for students emerges within the context of understanding the student's concerns and their "life story". Creating hope and self-awareness are fundamental for growth and change. Ultimately, it is our work together that will help you achieve your goals.
In 2005, Shallary initiated efforts which facilitated the development of Bucknell University peer mentor program for first year students from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds. Shallary is the Principal Investigator for the Together Everyone Achieves More (T.E.A.M.) peer mentor program and assessment study.
Renee Cardone M.S.W. Staff Counselor
Renee Cardone is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who received her Master's Degree in Social Work from the Smith College for Social Work. Renee employs an integrative approach to counseling that draws from, among others, psychodynamic, systems, developmental, cognitive behavioral, interpersonal, and short-term solution-focused theories and techniques. Consistent with her education and training in social work, she views understanding the "person in environment" (i.e., social cultural, institutional, etc.) as central to her work. Ms. Cardone joins with students in working toward improved functioning, whether that be academically, in relationships, or with regard to in some other context that is of importance to the student.
In addition to counseling students, Ms. Cardone also coordinates outreach programs for Psychological Services. These programs are available to students and the campus community and aim to educate about healthy coping and prevention of maladaptive responses to stressors.
Dr. Hannah Roberts, Psy.D. Staff Psychologist
Hannah received her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from the Michigan School of Professional Psychology. Hannah has a strong commitment to helping students realize their fullest potential for health, personal growth and well-being by addressing their specific needs, challenges, and life stories. Her clinical work is supervised by Dr. Linda Locher, a licensed psychologist in the states of Pennsylvania and Virginia. Her areas of interest include Alcohol and Drug Education, Multicultural Counseling, Identity Development, Anxiety and Adjustment Disorders, Women's Issues and Trauma and Recovery.
