Psychological Services Graduate Assistantship

This assistantship involves clinical training, indirect service and data management.

Primary emphasis will be on providing counseling for undergraduate students. Following a period of training, the graduate assistant will be expected to maintain one or two client appointments per week. Additional client hours may be taken on in consultation with the clinical supervisor. On average, two hours will be set aside each week for direct, clinical supervision. Responsibilities also include indirect service and office administrative work. In addition, the graduate assistant participates in staff meetings, clinical case conferences, and on-site training seminars.

The assistantship requires 20 hours per week.

Psychological Services is seeking applicants who are genuinely interested in counseling. We are looking for an energetic self-starter, an individual who will be enthusiastic about learning and someone who will actively look for opportunities to contribute to the work of the office.

The graduate assistant typically receives a stipend, together with a scholarship in the amount of the tuition for four (4) courses per year. This is a one year renewable appointment, from late August through May (including January) with a maximum term of two years. Additional part-time salaried summer employment is likely to be available. The ideal candidate will be able to make a two year commitment.

Applicants must be accepted for the master's degree in either education or psychology. Some background in psychology and experience with computers is necessary although an undergraduate degree in psychology is not.
