Empty Bowls 2012 - Help Fight Hunger!
Empty Bowls helps to raise money for local foods programs that assist the needy. 1 in 8 Americans struggle with hunger daily!
A simply meal of soup and bread are served in hand-crafted ceramic bowls for a donation of $10. Proceeds help support Bucknell's Community Harvest program and guests get to take home an "empty bowl" of their choice to remind them that there are many individuals in our society struggling with hunger. This year, food will be featured from Good Wil's, Hotel Edison, Townside Garden Cafe, Bull Run Inn, Lewisburg Hotel and Pizza Phi.
This year's event will take place on Thursday, March 1st. There will be two meal times, 11:30-2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. in the Center Room! This event aims to raise awareness that hunger is everywhere including our own area.
For $10, you will receive a hand-made clay bowl, bread and soup. Proceeds from the event benefit the Community Harvest Meal in Milton, a free hot meal program that serves 200 people every Monday evening. Tickets can be purchased at any Campus Box Office location or at the event.
Empty bowls is a collaboration of the Office of Civic Engagement, the Craft Center, Parkhurst Dining Services, and local restaurants.
