Speak UP Bucknell
BECOME A PEER EDUCATOR AND HELP MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
WHAT: Bucknell University has created a sexual misconduct prevention peer education program entitled Speak UP Bucknell, which presents workshop adapted with permission from the University of New Hampshire Prevention Innovations Bringing in the Bystander-TM program. Speak UP Bucknell emphasizes a bystander intervention approach and assumes that everyone has a role to play in ending sexual misconduct on campus. Becoming a peer educator provides a unique opportunity for members of the Bucknell community to take on a leadership role in educating themselves and their fellow Bucknell students about important issues facing our community.
WHO: Any Bucknell student who is interested in being involved in changing the campus climate and ending sexual misconduct and intimate partner abuse. It will be expected that any individual involved as a peer educator also models that commitment in their personal relationships.
WHEN: Please complete the application and contact the Women's Resource Center (570-577-1375 or tracy.shaynak@bucknell.edu) to schedule an interview. Peer training will take place in April and in August.
QUESTIONS? Please contact one of the program coordinators: Tracy Shaynak, Director of the Women's Resource Center (tracy.shaynak@bucknell.edu), or Dr. Marie Shaw, Staff Psychologist specializing in Sexual Violence at Psychological Services (marie.shaw@bucknell.edu).
