The Environmental Center (BUEC)
The Bucknell University Environmental Center (BUEC) supports faculty, staff, and students and is dedicated to environmental and nature-related learning, teaching, scholarship, service, and action at local, regional, national, and international levels.
The BUEC's Green Screens film series, part of the university's Film/Media Series, continues with a showing of "Trashed" at the Campus Theatre at 7:30 p.m. on Tues., Dec. 3. Produced and directed by British filmmaker Candida Brady (Madam and the Dying Swan), "Trashed" features Academy Award winning actor Jeremy Irons, who sets out to discover the extent and effects of the global waste problem. This investigative journey takes Irons from scepticism to sorrow and from horror to hope. Brady’s narrative is vividly propelled by an original score created by Academy Award winning composer Vangelis.
During the summer of 2013, the Environmental Center and its initiatives supported the research of 25 undergraduates and recent graduates representing 17 different majors with $56,000 in funding, primarily from external granting agencies. Additional monies supported faculty and professional advisers. Here is a research roundup: BUEC Summer 2013.
