To know this place is to know the stories, history and creative expressions of individuals and social groups who have populated our region over time. Through an emphasis on regionally-based expressions of the humanities our students and faculty engage in nationally-recognized scholarship and are on the leading edge of developing methods for the digital humanities. We have a major book series focused on the Stories of the Susquehanna Valley and encourage artists of all types to use their energies to express the contradictions, ambiguities and uncertainties people face when deciding how to live in this place.
Although grouped in this focus area, many of these projects overlap with other area. They are all projects which are currently being managed, directed, assisted with or initiated by the Place Studies Program staff, student interns and affiliated faculty, and they are in various stages of development.
