Three poems by Jane Yolen

Duck Parade

Ducks wiggle-waddle,
Ducklings diddle-dawdle
Down to the pond
With a quick-quack-quack.
Tails sassy-saucy,
Drakes busy-bossy,
Down to the pond
For a quick-quack-snack.

A Raft of Ducks: A Haiku

Ducks on the water,

Wing by wing by beak and wing.

I could walk across.

Calligraphy

Duck.

Duck.

Duck.

Duck.

Four mallards on a pond

Write with the subtle

Tracings of their backwash

A salutation to spring.
