Mechanical Engineering Student ExpoThe mechanical engineering program at Bucknell University prepares students for careers in a variety of fields including alternative energy, manufacturing, spacecraft design, medical device development, and robotics. Students build a firm foundation in all aspects of mechanical engineering through core courses then progress to more specialized subjects while putting their knowledge to use in the University's state-of-the art laboratories.

Mechanical engineering students learn to tackle challenges and solve real problems through individual and team projects as well as through research with professors. The program culminates with a senior project involving designing, building and testing devices for real customers. Many students also take advantage of summer research opportunities and pursue independent studies or honors theses. About 28 percent of mechanical engineering students participate in international programs ranging from short summer experiences to a semester abroad.
