Bucknell University ranks 4th in the U.S. News and World Report Best Colleges 2012. The ranking is based on undergraduates programs specializing in civil engineering.
- Kelly Salyards was selected to receive the 2012 ExCEEd New Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award. She was selected to receive this award based on her outstanding teaching record as a new faculty member, her contributions to the academic and surrounding community, and her proven commitment to education. She will be presented with the award at the Civil Engineering Division Banquet at the ASEE Annual Conference in San Antonio, Texas.
- Michelle Oswald was selected by the Civil Engineering Division of ASEE to receive the Gerald R. Seeley Award. The Seeley Fellowship is awarded annually to a civil engineering faculty member with five or fewer years' teaching experience and is based on the awards committee's assessment of papers submitted for presentation. She will be presented with the award at the Civil Engineering Division Banquet at the ASEE Annual Conference in San Antonio, Texas.
- Four civil & environmental engineering students who designed a fresh water system for a remote village in Suriname for their senior design project returned to the village to implement their design. Funds for the system were provided through a $10,000 Projects for Peace grant awarded by the Davis Foundation. The four graduated students-Alesandra Agresti, Jon Campbell-Copp, Scott Teagarden and John Trimmer--were accompanied by two Bucknell staff members, George Waltman in the College of Engineering Product Development Lab and Kristine Kengor in the Office of Service Learning.
