Living-Learning Communities

Bucknell offers a variety of housing options for students who want more than the typical dorm experience. Students can unite around a common theme, get to know their professors and peers, receive mentorship from faculty and upper-class students, and learn how to be leaders in an intellectually stimulating setting.

Living-Learning Communities fall under two categories:

The Residential Colleges, where residential life blends with academics

Students sign up for a Residential College before they ever set foot on campus. Each themed community is tied to a first-semester class, so that students who live together also learn together and bond over their shared interest in the material. About a third of each new class participates in the Residential Colleges program. Later in their Bucknell years, alumni of the program can continue to live together as a group.

Affinity Housing, where students take the lead

Students who want to live with others who share their interests can apply to live in an Affinity House or Hall. The only option available to first-year students is Health and Wellness Housing, but students in high class years can propose new themes (or renew themes) every year.
