The Department of Music’s Jazz@ Bucknell series presents Ambrose Akinmusire Quintet Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014, 7:30 p.m. Bucknell Hall The New Yorker calls trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire “a thrilling young trumpeter and astute bandleader [with a] unique spark in his playing.” His accolades include the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition and Carmine Caruso International Jazz Trumpet Solo Competition. Quintet members are tenor saxophonist Walter Smith III, pianist Sam Harris, bassist Harish Raghavan, and drummer Justin Brown. Concert is free and open to the public.
