The provost is the University's chief academic officer, with responsibility for leadership and oversight of all academic programs and research activities. Working with a team of faculty and academic administrators, the provost guides a diverse array of offices, councils and initiatives to steward Bucknell's academic mission and advance its strategic goals.

The mission of the Provost's Office is to lead and serve a diverse community by providing opportunities and procedures that support learning, innovation, creativity, scholarship and engagement.

Wendy Sternberg, Bucknell's new provost, will take office in July. Professor Margot Vigeant is interim provost.

Margot Vigeant

Professor Margot Vigeant, a professor at Bucknell since 1999, is Bucknell's interim provost as well as co-acting president of the University. She has served in a number of leadership roles for Bucknell, most recently as interim chair of the faculty.

Following a nationwide search, Bucknell has named Wendy Sternberg the University's new provost. Sternberg, who has served as vice president for academic affairs and dean of the college at Occidental College since 2017, will take office in July 2024.

Bucknell Breaks New Ground

MEDIA HIGHLIGHTS 2022-23

Bucknell faculty and leaders appeared more than 2,000 times in media publications in academic year 2022-23, a record number since the University began tracking appearances in its annual media report five years ago.
