Professor Flack (Middle) with a group of students at dinner prior |
Psychology is the scientific study of behavior, thought, and emotion. Through its study, students learn what research has revealed about the principles that govern behavior in individuals and groups, humans and other animals, young and old. In the process, students also learn how psychological principles intrude upon, or can be applied in, everyday life.
Congratulations to Professor Andrea Halpern who has been elected as President of the Society for Music Perception and Cognition.
Congratulation to Associate Professor Kim Daubman who has been elected as Chair of the Faculty at Bucknell.
The psychology department mourns the passing of David W. Milne, 76, who died at home on Thursday, August 25. David joined the University in 1964 as an Assistant Professor of Psychology, following his education at Hofstra and Cornell. Although he taught many courses during his time at Bucknell, he specialized in perception and statistics. Along the way David became a computer expert and developed an interest in computer psychology. David chaired the department for many years before his retirement in 1999. David taught at Bucknell for 35 years, positively impacting countless students and mentoring junior faculty. David will be fondly remembered for his keen wit, diverse interests, and huge heart.
