The old Russian Empire has undergone a major revolution. Just like the Revolution of 1917, the Revolution of 1991 has affected the entire world. Unlike the earlier revolution, however, which removed the nations of the USSR from the world community, the second revolution has brought them back into that community. The Russian studies program is geared toward teaching students about these changes.
