The Clery Act and Campus SaVE

The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, 20 U.S.C. § 1092(f), as amended by the Campus SaVE Act, part of the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2013, S. 47, 113th Cong. The University's Title IX Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all reports of Sexual Misconduct and Relationship Violence and identifying and addressing any patterns or systemic problems that arise during review of such reports. Allegations of Sexual Misconduct and Relationship Violence may be reported directly to the Title IX Coordinator. The Title IX Coordinator may issue no-contact orders. The Dean of Students may arrange other accommodations in consultation with the Title IX Coordinator. The Title IX Coordinator can answer questions and provide information concerning the University's policies and procedures, available resources and support services, and external criminal and legal options.

Confidentiality

The Title IX Coordinator will seek to protect the privacy and confidentiality of the individuals involved in any report of alleged sexual misconduct or relationship violence to the extent possible and allowed by law. The Title IX Coordinator cannot guarantee confidentiality, however, and must evaluate any request for confidentiality in the context of the University's responsibility to provide a safe and nondiscriminatory environment.

The following resources and support services offer confidential support:

Bucknell Advocates (for students who have experienced sexual misconduct or relationship violence) 570.850.6115

(Please note: Only female Advocates staff this number. If you would like to speak with a male Advocate, you may call this number or the Department of Public Safety and request to speak with a male Advocate.)

Drawn from a pool of staff persons trained in Sexual Misconduct and Relationship Violence matters, the Advocate is available to help the student consider her/his options, facilitate appropriate intervention, and provide information, support, and referral. The Advocate will accompany the student, if she/he desires, to medical treatment and/or to meet with law enforcement authorities and legal representatives; will stress that academic assistance and other accommodations are available; and will ensure that follow-up contacts are made as appropriate.

The Advocates, by virtue of their other campus responsibilities, have the duty to report Sexual Misconduct and Relationship Violence to the Department of Public Safety for statistical and/or timely warning purposes in accordance the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, 20 U.S.C. 1092(f), regardless of whether they are acting as an Advocate when they learn of the Sexual Misconduct or Relationship Violence.

Individual confidential counseling is available for all students. A counselor's communication with a student client is confidential. Exceptions may occur when a student presents an immediate risk of harm to self or others.

Transitions (for individuals who have experienced sexual misconduct or relationship violence) 800-850-SWIT (7948)

Transitions is a local crisis center that provides confidential counseling services, advocacy, emergency shelter, and relocation assistance to survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and other serious offenses.

Bucknell Student Health provides medical attention that includes treatment of any physical problems and lab tests for sexually transmitted infections and pregnancy.

Chaplains and Religious Life 570.577.1592

Pastoral Counselors offer religious counseling. Conversations with Pastoral Counselors are generally accorded high degrees of confidentiality, but the conversations may be subject to a court subpoena.

Faculty and staff members — If information regarding an incident of sexual misconduct or relationship violence is shared with you, you are required to complete the Sexual Misconduct and Relationship Violence Reporting Form within 24 hours of receiving the report.
