Why are we having this campaign?

  • To increase our endowment, because of its importance to the University’s success and our ability to provide the first-rate Bucknell educational experience.

  • To invest new resources in our students, faculty, programs and campus.

  • To engage alumni, parents and friends in this and future campaigns as donors, volunteers and advocates for Bucknell.

What is our campaign goal, and how are we doing?

Our campaign goal is $500 million — by far the biggest in University history. The most recent Bucknell campaign, which ended in 2000, raised $188 million.

As of July 2016, we have raised more than $400 million in gifts and pledges.

How long will the campaign last?

We expect the campaign to end in 2017.

What will the money from this campaign be used for?

The campaign targets these five overarching areas:

  • $150 million in endowments for scholarships and financial aid to recruit and retain outstanding students of all backgrounds.
  • $125 million for endowed chairs and professorships to attract outstanding new professors from other institutions or reward Bucknell faculty for extraordinary teaching and scholarship.
  • $100 million for new facilities, including new academic buildings, classrooms, laboratories, student meeting spaces and faculty offices, and a new home for student health and wellness.
  • $100 million through gifts to the Annual Fund, which are expended immediately benefit every facet of campus life — from the classroom and lab to the library, arts and athletics.
  • $25 million in endowments for programming to strengthen individual academic programs, seed interdisciplinary initiatives, increase undergraduate research and create more student leadership opportunities.

What specific initiatives will campaign funds support?

Within the five overarching areas, we are focusing fundraising around six academic and residential initiatives.

The Creative Campus Initiative

Funding opportunities include interdisciplinary programs in which students hone their skills as creative thinkers and use their ingenuity to address real-world problems; and endowed funds that support innovation and technology across the curriculum. || Explore gifts to Creativity & Innovation
