Empty Bowls is an international grassroots effort to fight hunger that was created by The Imagine Render Group. (Learn more about Empty Bowls.)
At Bucknell, a simply meal of soup and bread is served in hand-crafted ceramic bowls for a donation of $10. Proceeds help support the Community Harvest Meal in Milton, a free hot meal program that serves 80-120 people every Monday evening. Guests get to take home an "empty bowl" of their choice to remind them that there are many individuals in our society struggling with hunger.
This year's event will take place on Thursday, March 19, 2015. Our empty bowls event is a collaboration of the Office of Civic Engagement, the 7th Street Studio, Parkhurst Dining Services and local restaurants.
Tickets can be purchased at any Campus Box Office location starting March 2 or at the event (cash, check or BU ID).
There are two meal times, 11:30 - 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. in the Center Room.
