Janice has developed workshops for faculty on integrating service and community-based learning into the curriculum and is available for one-on-one consultations with instructors. She can help local agencies and organizations to work effectively with Bucknell students. She has also been involved in developing alternative break projects and can offer resources to staff and students who are planning service-learning based trips.

Stacey facilitates students connecting with service organizations to satisfy service-learning placements. She meets with students and faculty to brainstorm new service-learning concepts, to promote existing Bucknell programs and to act as a clearing house for inquiries. Additionally, Ms. Sommerfield presents opportunities for involvement in academic classes. Head Start, the Lewisburg Community Garden and Scholars in Service are overseen by Stacey. 

Lynn Pierson, Assistant Director for Community Service

Lynn assists students with identifying their community service and volunteer interests and then connecting them with sites in the Lewisburg community and surrounding counties as appropriate. She facilitates both on campus and office campus annual service events. Local agencies frequently contact her with their volunteer needs, and she works to identify available resources. Annual programs like the Service Fair, Turkey and Trimmings, the Giving Tree, the Polar Bear Plunge, Empty Bowls and Thaw Out are overseen by Lynn.

Lisa is the contact for any questions you may have regarding the Office of Civic Engagement or Community Service. She will be able to put you in contact with the right person depending on your needs. Lisa also handles any Community Service Federal Work study payroll issues.

Karen is an AmeriCorp for Youth Outreach Coordinator in the Office of Civic Engagement. She coordinates after-school programs for children in affordable housing communities at Meadowview and Essex Place in Lewisburg as well as provides ESL tutors to local students in need. Karen meets with Bucknell students and trains them to work effectively with local youth.
