Dr. Marie Shaw is a licensed psychologist who received her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Tennessee. Marie utilizes an integrative approach in which she adapts to meet each client's individual needs. She seeks to understand each client's unique worldview that guides their beliefs about themselves, others, and the world. She considers the therapeutic relationship to be a valuable tool and tries to provide a safe, collaborative, and empowering relationship. She tries to do this by being genuinely empathic and balancing challenge and support. Throughout the therapy process, Marie hopes to empower clients to recognize and use their strengths.
Marie has been trained as a generalist, but has specific interest and experience in working with trauma and survivors of interpersonal violence, body image and eating disorders, interpersonal issues, and sport psychology and performance enhancement with student-athletes.
