Assistant Director for Business Consulting
Maureen Hauck has been with the Bucknell University Small Business Development Center since 2000. She brings over 20 years of business experience including retail management, marketing, advertising, sales, and personnel management to the position of Assistant Director for Business Consulting. Maureen frequently speaks to groups of young entrepreneurs at Bucknell University and area high schools and is the lead presenter for the center's "First Step" pre-business workshop. Maureen graduated from Bloomsburg University with a B.S. in Business Administration and a B.S. degree in Secondary Education. Maureen was recognized as the Pennsylvania "State Star" in 2015 by the America's Small Business Development Centers for her sustained commitment to small businesses and her leadership in the SBDC program.
Dennis Hummer has spent more than 20 years in the construction and hospitality industries and brings executive management, product branding, and corporate ownership experience to the Bucknell SBDC. He provides confidential counseling at no fee to entrepreneurs looking to navigate the complexities of business ownership. Whether it's a new start-up or an existing business, he guides clients in designing sound business plans, creating effective marketing strategies, and identifying potential funding sources. Focusing on a clear path to profitability, he utilizes the resources of the PASBDC network and Bucknell University in helping clients take business ideas from concept to creation. Dennis manages StartupLewisburg, Bucknell University's home for innovators, start-ups, and entrepreneurs in downtown Lewisburg. He helps incubator member firms to identify and pursue funding, and to develop relationships with Bucknell University as they use innovative technology to advance new services and products to market. Dennis earned a BA in Economics from the University of Pittsburgh and has completed the Business Incubation Management Certificate Program through the International Business Innovation Association (InBIA).
Reed Bolton Byrum
Reed Bolton Byrum shares with clients decades of rich business experiences with companies ranging from Fortune 100 and 500 corporations to Silicon Valley and Austin start-ups in his Business Consultant role with the Bucknell SBDC. Reed provides consulting to companies to help them launch and thrive from concept to reality and growth. He strives to build confidence and knowledge in business owners and has special expertise helping them explore opportunities in technology and international markets. Reed has been a business, professional and non-profit leader from the West to the East Coast and has professional expertise in start-ups, reputation management, marketing, and governance in such industries as high-tech, financial services, manufacturing, and higher education. The former national President and CEO of the Public Relations Society of America, Reed is a Vice President of the Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce and is active with other nonprofits in Central Pennsylvania. Having received his BA from Washington and Lee University, Reed has taught strategy at the University of Texas at Austin and has achieved certifications as a NASBITE Global Business Professional and an SBA counselor in international trade.
Engineering Consultant Project Manager
Dilip Shah has over 15 years of experience in engineering product and process development. He has owned and operated a small business, and holds US and international patents for a new design of hydraulic hose couplings. Dilip worked for the US Army as a Metallurgist and through this work in failure analysis on weapons systems components he gained valuable insight into how materials, design, manufacturing processes, and application must align perfectly in order for a product to meet a user's needs under critical conditions. In leading the SBDC's specialty Engineering Development Services, his expertise in product development and project management helps clients systematically develop product concepts into profitable businesses. In these activities he collaborates with Technology Commercialization specialists throughout the PASBDC network and with the Innovation Partnership, a statewide program helping firms pursue SBIR/STTR federal funding. He has presented technical papers at industry conferences, and taught science and engineering courses at a number of colleges and universities. Dilip holds a BS in Metallurgical Engineering from IIT and a Master's Degree in Materials Science from Syracuse University.
Serving as the "voice of the SBDC", Shelley Gadoury is the center's primary point of contact for information and service inquiries. She is involved in all aspects of daily administration of the center, and helps to develop and maintain excellent relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders. She is instrumental in sharing and promoting the success stories of client companies and is the MIS liaison to the Pennsylvania SBDC network for economic impact assessment. Shelley holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration from Pennsylvania College of Technology.
Steven Stumbris brings expertise in product development, manufacturing management, innovation, and entrepreneurship to his role of Director of the Bucknell SBDC. His experience as a product development, engineering, and manufacturing professional spans products and industries such as marine electronics, wood specialties, plastics processing, and construction equipment. He was honored as a Pennsylvania "State Star" in 2008 by the Association of Small Business Development Centers as a member of the PASBDC network's Technology Commercialization team. He serves on the board of the Lewisburg Downtown Partnership, chairing its business support and expansion committee; and founded Tech Meetup Lewisburg, a networking forum for technology entrepreneurs. He holds a Master of Professional Studies in Community and Economic Development from Penn State University and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University.
