Issues in Pennsylvania School Law
This site contains a compendium of sources that should be consulted by Pennsylvania educators concerning various actions taken by school personnel, which affect the due process rights of students and teachers. For each topic, applicable federal and state sources that must be consulted are listed and the relevant content of the sources is presented. This content comes from statutes, regulations and case law.
The following resources are included for each topic when applicable: the laws of the General Assembly as found in the Pennsylvania Public School Code, the regulations of the Pennsylvania State Board of Education as located in 22 Pa. Code, and Basic Education Circulars (BECs) published by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Pertinent cases are presented for each topic, which are drawn from federal and Pennsylvania case claw. Most decisions are from the appellate level. Finally for each topic the appeals process is described briefly.
The glossary contains very brief definitions and/or explanations for the major terms used in the compendium
