About the Writing Program
Writing instruction at Bucknell takes place in writing-intensive courses offered at all levels in all disciplines. W1 courses offer a general introduction to college writing, while W2 courses allow students to practice rhetorical conventions in particular disciplines.
All Bucknell students must successfully complete one W1 course and two W2 courses before graduating. The Writing Program is Bucknell's only university-wide degree requirement. || See a full description of Bucknell's Writing Requirement.
Writing Program Oversight
The Composition Council, consisting of faculty representatives from both colleges and from each division within the College of Arts and Sciences, oversees the Writing Program and the W course development process.
The Writing Program Director chairs the Composition Council and normally serves a three-year term. Michael A. Malusis, Associate Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering, is the Writing Program Director.
Professor Malusis and other Bucknell writers share their perspectives on writing in the blog, Bucknell Writes.
