As president of the Pittsburgh Bucknell Alumni Club from 1994-96, Rachel Bandarenko reinvigorated the club by putting together creative events of interest that encouraged alumni to reconnect with Bucknell. She moved to Annapolis, Md., and repeated her success with the Baltimore Alumni Club, of which she also became president. Her successes were so noteworthy that in 1998 she was asked to cochair the Bucknell Council of Club Presidents.
In addition to her work with clubs, she is an alumni admissions representative and has frequently served as an entering student reception host for the Baltimore area.
She and her husband, Peter, also a member of the Class of 1988, are cochairs of their 15th-Year Class Reunion. While giving a full measure of her time to Bucknell, Rachel also gives time to her community. She is president of the Junior League of Annapolis where she is responsible for 340 volunteers who perform many community projects.
She also is a participant in the U S Naval Academy's "home away from home" program by opening her home to midshipmen and providing a family environment when they need time to relax away from the rigors of the Naval Academy. She is a trustee at the St. Martin's-in-the-Field Day School, which her sons attend, and also volunteers with youth baseball and the Children's Theatre of Annapolis.
