"Using Philosophy For Evil/Comedy"
Have you ever wanted to do stand-up comedy, and despite being able to rationally argue why, find yourself still unable to write anything funny? Want to zazz up your lectures and tutorials with questionable material that may have you fired? This hour long workshop will help those with a philosophical background apply their knowledge to joke writing and stand up comedy. Using a participatory approach, you'll see what works and what doesn't, and get a visceral and innate understanding as to why.
"Stand-up Comedy for the Terrified"
A practical workshop which will help participants start to engage with some of the basic techniques of stand-up performance in a way which is approachable, unterrifying and fun. You will start to learn how to talk to an audience without a script, explore aspects of your personality which you can project onstage, and think about how ideas might be structured into jokes and routines. You will try out ideas in front of the group, and get feedback on what you can work on to make yourself different from the next stand-up comedian.
