A green roof on the building assists with storm water management and energy reduction.
The green roof slows the rate at which rainwater is introduced into the storm water system which helps reduce erosion. It also reduces the heat island effect of the roof. Because the plants make up such a large portion of the roof surface, the roof does not absorb as much heat from sunlight as a regular roof would, thus reducing cooling loads and energy use.
