The Architecture of Academics

“The first time I stepped on this campus, I knew that I was home.”

We’ve heard this beautiful sentiment time and again from students and alumni. From the Academic Quad and its landmark clock tower to the elegant spire of the Rooke Chapel, from the calm of the Grove to state-of-the-art laboratories and artistic spaces, from our adjoining river to our athletics facilities, our campus is a vibrant treasure.

Together we are called to steward this special community that we call home. We must preserve and protect it, and ensure that it continues to evolve mindfully for each generation’s needs, each era’s technological, architectural and social possibilities, in ways that make sense with Bucknell’s classic college aesthetic.

Bucknell’s most recent campaign funded two new academic buildings that enhance the campus as well as the academic core: the Sigfried Weis Music Building (2000) and the O'Leary Building for the geology and psychology departments (2002). After that campaign ended, the continued momentum of support funded the Breakiron Engineering Building (2004).

Our current comprehensive campaign promises equally exciting and beneficial improvements.
