I remember researching top engineering schools, and Bucknell popped up. I became more interested because it also had a strong liberal arts core.
"The students here are critical thinkers and problem solvers. This inspired me and another Bucknell student to start a student organization called Launch. Launch is a technology-based club that allows students to share ideas, collaborate on projects, and learn entrepreneurial approaches to their areas of study. One of our first events called Web Fundamentals? helped students learn how to build their own website.
"We created the club during spring of 2014, and it has already garnered a lot of support. My co-founder and I decided to open the club to more than just computer science majors. We want to foster an intellectual environment for all students, not just those previously educated in programming. Some faculty have gotten involved as well, which is very exciting. I feel like I'm leaving my mark on Bucknell.
"Things like Launch make me realize I'm very lucky to be here. I had never been to America before, so Bucknell was my first taste. I remember researching top engineering schools, and Bucknell popped up. I became more interested because it also had a strong liberal arts core. The thought of exploring new fields was enticing to me. I applied, was accepted, and then received the Virginia C. Bristol Scholarship for students focusing in mathematics. It was an opportunity I could not pass up.
"Since being here, I've been able to build positive relationships with the faculty. Professor Schneider in the economics department has been my favorite mentor. He was my advisor during the Institute for Leadership in Technology and Management (ILTM), a Bucknell program I participated in over the summer. ILTM introduces students to Bucknell faculty and corporate leaders while allowing students to work on real-world technology and management projects. I got to work with GE, which was amazing. The program was only six weeks long, but very intensive. By the time I graduate, I'm sure my list of amazing opportunities due to Bucknell will only grow."
