As a Bucknellian, you'll be part of a community that celebrates a rich legacy of symbols and traditions.
From its founding in the "wilds of Pennsylvania" in 1846 to the rigorous and contemporary education we offer today, Bucknell through its history connects the first seven graduates in 1851 to our more than 50,000 living alumni.
Our mascot, the Bison, is a tribute to Bucknell's location in the Buffalo Valley of Central Pa. Bucky the Bison shows up to cheer on our Division I athletic teams.
Our seal shows the sun, an open book and waves - symbolizing the light of knowledge and education surmounting the storms of life.
