Students admitted to Bucknell University are invited to a three-day orientation program designed to welcome you to campus and to meet your specific needs as international students. This program will include students on U.S. visas, permanent residents, U.S. citizens abroad, and dual citizens. Each year about 80 students attend International Student Orientation.
For the academic year 2015-16, admitted students should arrive on Thursday, Aug. 13. International Student Orientation will formally begin on Friday, Aug. 14. New Student Orientation, which includes the entire Class of 2019, will begin on Friday, August 22.
International Student Orientation gives incoming international students an opportunity to settle in and explore the campus prior to New Student Orientation. It is mandatory for any student on a U.S. visa to attend.
You will have the opportunity to complete your immigration registration, open a bank account and receive your medical history clearance. In addition, you will have a chance to meet academic deans, faculty, the health insurance administrator, and the public safety director, among others. It is also a time to socialize with other new students, as the program includes events such as movies, games, shopping, bowling and skit night.
The program is sponsored by International Student Services, and is run by enthusiastic upper-class students who welcome you to Bucknell and maintain their relationship with you throughout the first year. This exciting program is sure to serve as a firm basis for your future years as Bucknell.
You will need to register to attend International Student Orientation. Registration will be available later this spring.
