Neuroscience is the scientific study of the nervous system. Neuroscience brings together many different disciplines and research techniques in order to understand the basic neural functions involved in sensation, perception, cognition, behavior, development and psychopathology in human and non-human animals. Bucknell offers tracks in general neuroscience, cognitive and behavioral neuroscience, and cell and molecular neuroscience. Student-faculty collaborative research is a strong emphasis in the Neuroscience Program at Bucknell. Students who major in Neuroscience will be well-prepared to embark on a variety of careers including medical school as well as academic careers in neuroscience, biology, animal behavior and psychology, among many other careers.
