Starting salaries for Bucknell University's Class of 2015 averaged $52,164, the most of any graduating class in Bucknell history. It narrowly topped last year's average of $52,068 for the Class of 2014 and marked the second straight year that mean starting salaries of the previous year's graduates topped the $50K mark, which it first surpassed a year ago.

Those numbers are among the many highlights of the annual Postgraduate Report for Activity, which the Bucknell Career Development Center administers nine months following Commencement.

"Bucknellians continue to do well and show a high rate of success in their postgraduate pursuits," said Pam Keiser, executive director, career services. "In a competitive job market, the many varied skills and experiences Bucknellians offer stand out, and this helps them successfully connect with companies when hiring decisions are made."

The survey once again had an extremely high response rate, as 99 percent of the class (858 of 861 students) reported their postgraduate activities. Ninety-six percent of the Class of 2015 was employed, in graduate school, both employed and in graduate school, or volunteering. Just 3 percent were still seeking employment.

A total of 58 percent of class respondents reported salary information, up by 10 percentage points from last year. College of Engineering graduates' mean starting salary was $63,644; School of Management graduates, $54,191; College of Arts & Sciences graduates, $46,786; and for Dual Engineering/Arts & Sciences, $70,257 — an increase of more than $12K over last year.

Bucknell also ranks third among liberal arts colleges in PayScale's 2016 ROI report, which measures mid-career salary through a return-on-investment metric.

"Employers that recruit our students each year share feedback with us that our graduates are well prepared and present themselves in a poised and professional manner when interviewing for full-time positions in these organizations," said Keiser.
