LEWISBURG, Pa. — The Bucknell Institute for Lifelong Learning's Lunch & Learn program will host the presentation, "Traveling Xinjiang, China's Western Province" with Wolfgang Gunter on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at noon at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village at The Village Common, located at 6 Tressler Blvd. in Lewisburg.
The recipient of a doctorate in chemistry from the University of Cologne, Gunter worked, lived and traveled extensively in China for five years. His talk will examine the political situation as well as the beauty of the region.
Annexed in the 1950s, Xinjiang offers one of the most spectacular landscapes in the world — the Himalayas, the Taklimakan Desert, the below-sea level fertile Turpan region and serene lakes.
Doors open at 11:30 a.m.; beverages and a light dessert will be provided. Participants may bring their own lunch or purchase a soup-and-sandwich lunch (broccoli cheddar soup and ham and swiss wrap) for $5 by contacting the Bucknell Institute for Lifelong Learning office at 570-522-0105 or firstname.lastname@example.org up to noon of the day prior to the program; payment can be made at the door.
