Stacey Sommerfield of the Lewisburg Community Garden will hold a workshop on preserving summer produce Thursday, Aug. 28, at 7 p.m. at the Public Library for Union County, located at 255 Reitz Blvd., Lewisburg.

The 45-minute workshop will include tips on canning, freezing, and dehydrating fresh produce. It is free and open to the public; registration is not needed.

This workshop is being offered as part of a monthly workshop series to be offered by the Lewisburg Community Garden and the Public Library for Union County. A different gardening workshop will be offered each month through September of 2014.

A joint project between Bucknell University and the Borough of Lewisburg, the Lewisburg Community Garden is located on the corner of North Water Street and Saint Anthony's Street.

The garden features individual plots for groups, families or individuals interested in gardening as well as a larger area worked by student and community volunteers to provide produce for local hot meal programs and other food programs.
