The Bucknell Institute for Lifelong Learning's Tea & Talk program will host the free presentation, "Beethoven's Fifth Symphony: Exploring its many interpretations and permutations from the late-20th century to the present" with Annie Randall, Bucknell music professor, on Tuesday, April 1.

Randall is a musicologist whose works range from books on opera and political music to a book on pop singer Dusty Springfield (Son of a Preacher Man). She believes in crossing musical boundaries and blends research and teaching, encouraging students who want to explore popular music history. Randall's April 1 talk was rescheduled from March 25.

Tea & Talk is held at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village at The Village Common, located at 6 Tressler Blvd. in Lewisburg. [directions]

The event begins at 3:30 p.m., with doors opening at 3 p.m. The free event includes teatime refreshments. Tea & Talk is held in partnership with Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village.

NOTE: The Tea & Talk presentation, "The Role of a Master Drummer Beyond Africa and Jazz" with Phil Haynes, originally scheduled for April 3, has been cancelled.

The Bucknell Institute for Lifelong Learning's Lunch & Learn program will host two discussions related to aging in April.

"A Bird's-Eye View of Aging" with Mark Haussmann, Bucknell biology professor, is scheduled for Tuesday, April 22, at noon at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village at The Village Common, located at 6 Tressler Blvd. in Lewisburg. Doors open at 11:30 a.m.

"Aging and Music Cognition" with Andrea Halpern, Bucknell psychology professor, will be held Tuesday, April 29, at 11:30 a.m. at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village at The Village Common. Doors open at 11 a.m. [note earlier start time] This event was originally scheduled for Feb. 13.

The Bucknell Institute for Lifelong Learning has provided adult learners in the Central Susquehanna Valley a broad range of educational and intellectual opportunities since its inauguration during the fall of 2009. The Institute is a self-supporting affiliate of Bucknell University. All of its programs and events are supported by membership and course registration fees and donations from members and friends.
