First-generation students and their families are encouraged to attend this session to connect with faculty and staff who were also first-generation college students and can serve as mentors throughout your college experience. *You are a first-generation college student if you and/ or your siblings will be the first generation in your family to graduate from a four-year college.

Writing Center Welcome Reception

Students and families are invited to meet the Writing Center staff. The Center is a free resource available to all students. Come learn about one-on-one writing consultations, workshops, oral communication practice sessions and other writing-related resources.

Learn about checking accounts from local banks, subscribe to The Bucknellian (our student newspaper) and get your questions answered by representatives from Card Services and Student Transit, Bucknell Nutrition and Recreation Services.

Religious Life Open Houses
St. George Street and Rooke Chapel
New students and their families are invited to drop by the Berelson Center (Jewish), Rooke Chapel (Protestant and Interfaith) and the Newman House (Roman Catholic) along St. George Street (just north of Smith Hall, across from Financial Aid) to meet Bucknell's chaplains and students from our University religious programs.

Intercultural, Equity and Advocacy (IEA) Open House

This is an opportunity to interact and connect with other students, faculty and staff while gaining insights about the resources available from the Offices of Multicultural Student Services, International Student Services, LGBTQ Resources and the Women's Resource Center.

Residence Hall Meetings with Resident Adviser (RA), Orientation Assistants (OA) and Junior Fellows (JF)
Meet on your hall
During the first hall meeting you will meet the other residents on your floor, as well as your RA, OAs and JF. Learn about what to expect during Orientation, get to know others and have your questions answered. This meeting is required for all first-years.

Members of the faculty and staff will welcome the Class of 2018 for an official University welcome.

8 - 9 p.m.
Matriculation Ceremony
Rooke Chapel Lawn
(Rain location: Weis Center)

This ceremony officially marks the entrance of the Class of 2018 into the Bucknell community. Students receive their class pin and process along a pathway lighted by luminaria through the Christy Mathewson Gateway to symbolize their entrance into the University.

9 - 10 p.m.
Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium
(Rain location: Gerhard Fieldhouse, Kenneth G. Langone Athletics and Recreation Center)
Don't miss this Bucknell favorite. Meet your new classmates through the largest teambuilding exercise you've ever seen!
