Where is the BLINC Program held?
The BLINC Program is held at the Forest D. Brown Conference Center (known as Cowan), Bucknell-owned lodging about 10 minutes from campus. This is a rustic, yet cozy, space. There are bunk rooms available for participants, along with full bathrooms and a large living area for socializing. Also at Cowan is a large outdoor space that hosts Bucknell's Challenge Course operated by CLIMBucknell.
What is the registration process for BLINC?
Registration for BLINC will open on May 12 and will close on June 17. We have limited space, and therefore in the instance of full registration you will be placed on a waitlist. You will need your BUID #, Bucknell email address, and password in order to access the registration [link here]. Payment is required at the time of registration for the program (either via mailed check or electronic bank payment).
What is the cost of the program?
The cost is only $325 per participant and includes all food, accommodations, transportation and other fees associated with the different experiences within the program. There is a limited amount of scholarship money available for those in need who wish to participate. Please contact Chelsea Brown (email@example.com) for more information.
Is there a cancellation and/or refund policy for BLINC?
- If this program is cancelled for any reason (weather, insufficient registration, etc.) you will receive a full refund.
- If you must cancel, you must do so on or before June 17 for a full refund of your program fee.
- If you cancel after June 17, you will be refunded IF we can find a participant to fill the spot. If we are unable to find a participant, you WILL NOT receive a refund.
What if I have a food allergy or special diet?
All meals and snacks are provided during the BLINC program. Students should not need any additional food or snack items with them for the length of the program. If you have a food allergy or diet of necessity please make note of that on your information sheet sent to you after you have registered for the program. We will reach out to you individually to discuss your dietary needs and will do our best to accommodate you throughout the program.
What should I wear?
Dress comfortably and for warm weather! A packing list will be included in your welcome packet after registration with recommendations for items such as sneakers, long pants, bug spray, linens or a sleeping bag for your bunk, etc. If you should forget anything for the program, please reach out to the program staff and we will accommodate you as best we can.
Will I be able to move into my Residence Hall prior to BLINC?
Yes! You will be able to check in on the first day of the programming beginning in the morning, and will have several hours to unload your items and get settled. You will not have access to your room while you are participating in the program, however, so please make sure you have all items packed away in a separate bag before your join us for Day 1!
Will I be able to use my cell phone or laptop during the program?
Cell phone service at Cowan is very limited, so while you may choose to bring your cell phone or other devices, you may not have much time or opportunity to use them. There is also no internet connection at Cowan. If there is an emergency and a family member needs to be in touch with a participant, please call the University Switchboard at 570.577.2000 and ask for the Assistant Director of Campus Activities & Programs. The Assistant Director will know how to be in touch with the BLINCers and will make sure that communication is made a s quickly as possible.
