A. University personnel (faculty, staff, students, visitors) should follow the step-by-step Emergency Response Procedures listed herein to initially notify the Emergency Command Center at Public Safety of the nature of the emergency. You may do this by dialing or 570-577-1111. In the event of a condition which requires immediate police, fire company, or ambulance response, University personnel should dial 911 (Union County Communications Center) to advise the authorities of a situation requiring immediate response and then contact Public Safety at 570-577-1111 advising the Public Safety dispatcher of the same

B. The emergency number 570-577-1111 is to report emergencies only and to receive instructions from the Public Safety dispatcher. Do not remain on this line for any longer than required to describe the emergency and to receive instructions.

C. All non-emergency communications should be directed to 570-577-3333 and will also serve as the information/rumor hot line through which University members may acquire up-to-date information on the emergency and response without utilizing emergency telephone lines.

D. The Public Safety Command Center will notify all University Emergency Response Personnel to begin the Emergency Disaster Response Plan.

E. When warranted, an alert notification will be sent out. The alert system is a mass notification system powered by Rave Mobile Safety that enables students, parents and members of the faculty and professional staff to receive alerts and updates through text, voicemail messages and Bmail accounts.

The alert system is our effort to better disseminate emergency information and is intended to increase safety across campus. We encourage you to sign up for the alerts and keep your information updated. F. In the event of a major emergency disaster, the Director of Public Safety Will coordinate a timely notification procedure for all members of the University and surrounding communities with members of the Emergency Response Team through Public Safety Command Center and local media communication networks.

G. Do not discuss any details concerning a campus emergency with any news media personnel. All questions, communications or requests for information by news media for University personnel should be directed to the Assistant Vice President for Communications who will coordinate all dissemination of information at the University. We will designate a central information area for media inquiries (with a sign posted indicating such) at 217 Elaine Langone Center or at the scene of the emergency.
