Bachelor of Music students will be able to:

Demonstrate an ability to sight-read and express themselves artistically over a cross-section of the repertory in their major performance areas. (1,3,6,7,8,9)

Work collaboratively and as leaders in musical interpretation. (1,4,5,6,7,8,9)

Employ understanding of musical forms, processes, and structures in compositional, performance, analytical, scholarly, and pedagogical applications. (1,3,4,6,7,8,9)

Create derivative or original music. (1,4,7,8,9)

Demonstrate an understanding of western European and non-western musical traditions through the present time, and place music in historical, cultural, and stylistic contexts. (1,2,3,6,7,8,9)

Work with current technology as appropriate to degree program. (1,8,9)

Bachelor of Arts Music students will be able to:

Demonstrate an ability to perform at a level appropriate to studio class or department recital. (1,4,8,9)

Demonstrate an understanding of compositional processes, aesthetic properties of music, and the ways these shape and are shaped by artistic and cultural forces. (1,2,3,4,6,8,9)

Demonstrate an understanding of western European and non-western musical traditions through the present time, and place music in historical, cultural, and stylistic contexts. (1,2,3,6,7,8,9)

Hear, identify, and work conceptually with the elements of music such as rhythm, melody, harmony, structure, timbre, and texture. (1,4,6,7,9)

Develop critical musical thinking. (1,2,3,4,6,7,8,9)
