Hobbies and Interests:
Cooking, knitting, reading, traveling, volunteering.
Years at Bucknell:
4 years as a Student, second year as a Staff member.
Favorite thing about Bucknell:
The people. Bucknell has a great campus community, and I have loved my experiences here both as a student and as a staff member. When I was looking at schools, I paid attention to how friendly people appeared, and Bucknell really stood out as a place where people are smiling while walking around campus and make an effort to say hi to others, even people they do not know.
Favorite place or activity on campus:
Favorite activity: Volunteering, especially Bucknell blood drives. For 2007-2008, Bucknell students and staff contributed 804 units for the Northeast Pennsylvania region in only 4 blood drives. It’s a great way to get involved at Bucknell and to make a difference in the local community.
Favorite thing about Lewisburg:
I love Market Street, which is the main street in downtown Lewisburg. Mya’s is my favorite coffee shop downtown, and there are so many great pizza places. The Campus Theater is a fun place to go to see a movie, especially if you get there early enough to sit in the couches in the back of the theater.
What I recommend to do while visiting Lewisburg:
If it’s the summer, you need to go to the Fence. It is a drive-up restaurant, and they serve the best fish sandwiches. The festivals in Lewisburg are great too. There is an ice festival in the winter where local businesses sponsor ice sculptures, and an Arts festival where Market Street is closed down for local art vendors.
People would be surprised to know that…
I went sky diving in April of 2006 in conjunction with Operation Freefall. I’m scared of heights, so it was a scary experience but definitely worth it.
