Welcome to the Department of Geology at Bucknell University!

Our department offers a BA and a BS in both Geology and Environmental Geology, and emphasizes hands-on, field-based learning. Recent student graduates are working in environmental engineering consulting firms, government agencies, and education among other careers, or pursuing graduate education in some of the nation's top graduate schools. It's the Spring Geo-biathelon!!   Bucknell Geology faculty, students and friends took advantage of a beautiful spring weekend for a fun and educational trip through Pine Creek Gorge in north-central Pennsylvania. The group paddled kayaks down Pine Creek to study amazing outcrops of Appalachian Plateau strata, then boarded bikes and took the rail-trail back upstream. The Pine Creek trail is located at the bottom of the "Pennsylvania Grand Canyon" and is a 57 mile-long multi-use trail for hiking, biking and cross-county skiing.
