VISITING ASSISTANT PROFESSOR POSITION

The Department of Geology at Bucknell University, Lewisburg, PA, invites applications for an entry-level, visiting assistant professor position in Geology. Ph.D. or ABD required. Qualified applicants for this visiting position will have no more than four years of full-time postdoctoral teaching experience at the time of appointment. Successful applicants will demonstrate an interest in and potential for teaching and interacting effectively with students having a range of backgrounds, interests, and perspectives and an ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues from a range of backgrounds, interests, and perspectives. Familiarity with Appalachian geology is desirable.

During the 2009-2010 academic year, the successful candidate will teach two classes and two labs each semester.  We anticipate the position will cover introductory physical geology in the fall and introductory environmental geology in the spring.

The Geology Department offers B.A. and B.S. degrees in Geology and Environmental Geology. Bucknell’s geology program is field intensive and we expect candidates to make use of local Appalachian field opportunities for labs in the course.
