Study Carrels & Lockers

Faculty Carrels

Currently, faculty carrels are assigned through the Office of the Dean of Arts & Sciences, but expressions of interest should be made by filling out the online application, or by visiting the Library & IT office on Level 2 of the Bertrand Library. For additional information, contact Janine Follmer, Library & IT Office, or call x71557.

Student Study Carrels

Twenty-one lockable study carrels are available on Lower Level 1 for use by Bucknell students who do extensive research using the library collection. Priority will be given to graduate and honors students. Carrels are equipped with a desk, chair, and bookshelves.

Carrels are assigned on the basis of need at the beginning of each semester. Renewal is possible unless other requests have been received. In the event of numerous requests, study carrels will be assigned on a shared basis. If key is not returned a fee to rekey the lock will be charged to the university account of the borrower.

Carrels not currently assigned may be used for daily use. These carrels are unlocked and available on a first-come/first-served basis.

Applications are available online for student carrels, or in the Library & IT office on Level 2 of the Bertrand Library. For additional information about carrels, contact Janine Follmer, Library & IT Office, or call x71557.

Lockers

There are storage lockers available for borrowers to use in the Library. They are located near the Tech Courtyard on the far side of the Tech Desk and on level 2. If you have a number of books checked out and you don’t want to carry them around all the time, a locker is an ideal solution for you! You can also store your laptop computer in the locker, to keep it secure.

Lockers (85 of them) are available on a semester-loan basis (first come, first served).  There is an Agreement Form that you must sign in order to get a key. Keys may be acquired from a Circulation staff member during regular business hours. Further instructions are available at the Circulation Desk.
