Former Secretary of Homeland Security Ridge, who spoke at Bucknell May 22, also received the Award of Merit, one of the university's highest awards. In his speech, Ridge asked the 155th Bucknell graduating class to "champion a great ideal.
"Ideals must have their champions," he said. "Do as many a champion has done. Raise expectations, set the new standard, and lead the way for future generations to follow."
