![]() | Roberta Sims Services/Specialties: Overseeing the workflow of the Web Development team, setting priorities, researching new web-based technologies and trends, making recommendations for web-based enhancements. Current projects that I'm involved in include an participating in an overhaul of myBucknell (Bucknell's intranet); launching a new search engine; launching a new web-based calendar; getting Bucknell more entrenched in select social networking sites; actively seeking ways to reduce redundancy of content on the Bucknell website, and most importantly, keeping the web development team happy, okay, smiling at least, okay, cursing under their breath, okay, not throwing things at each other... Bio/Background Info: MFA in Creative Writing, University of Alaska, Fairbanks; BA in Writing, University of Pittsburgh. I’ve lived in Pennsylvania, Alaska, Louisiana, New York, Massachusetts and Ontario. One thing my colleagues don’t know about me: I can play the banjo and the mandolin. One thing I plan to learn this year: Everything I can about XML and XSLT. To speak Russian. To play Beethoven’s Op 2. No 1 f minor Sonata from memory. Okay, that’s three things. **Update on April 28, 2009. The XML, XSLT didn't happen, so I'm going to drop that from my list. However, I did just finish a semester of Russian 101 with a big final looming in two days, and I've registered for the next session in the fall. And I have learned Beethovan's Op.2 No. 1 sonata, not from memory, but I can play the first three movements. Next I'm not to the 4th movement and believe me, I'm a little scared of it. So, what will I learn this year? Chopin's Raindrop prelude. More Russian. I want to translate some Russian poetry into English someday, and English poetry into Russian. Oh, and I want to try my hand at painting. |
