The Spanish department uses an on-line placement exam to match your language skills to the appropriate course. We also take into consideration how long you have studied Spanish and if you have spent time in a Spanish-speaking environment.

In Bucknell’s Spanish program, you’ll learn more than a language. Learn the literature, culture and linguistics of Spanish, and amplify your skills by studying abroad through the close-knit Bucknell en España program or an approved program in a Spanish-speaking country. ¡Que bueno!

We encourage our students to think critically, to question their cultural assumptions about the Hispanic world, and to seek to immerse themselves, as much as possible, in a Spanish-speaking community.
