About Granada

Bucknell en España

Cityscape

The program is centered in Granada, an Andalusian city of approximately 250,000 inhabitants, located at the foot of the perennially snowcapped Sierra Nevada mountains and less than one hour from the Costa de Sol on the Mediterranean. Granada is home to monuments of historical and artistic interest, the most celebrated of which is the Alhambra, a Moorish palace and fortress dating from the thirteenth century. Other places of cultural interest are the Renaissance cathedral, the Cartuja monastery with its baroque interior, several Renaissance palaces, and the museum/homes of Federico García Lorca and Manuel de Falla. The narrow streets of the old city, and the historic neighborhoods of the Albaicín and the Realejo, as well as the many plazas and fountains that grace the city, all contribute to the charm of Granada. The city is large enough to provide a stimulating social and urban environment yet is small enough to allow students to come to know it well.
