Building on Foundations (BOF)

Admitted Students

Building on Foundations (BOF) is a pre-orientation program that has been a Bucknell tradition since 1938! This high energy, four day program is filled with a variety of exciting activities that focus on team-building, leadership, community service and friendship. BOFers enjoy a state of the art ropes course, unique community projects, and an early introduction into life at Bucknell from fellow Bucknell students. It is clear that BOF positively impacts students, as many BOFers go on to become active and influential leaders on campus, participating in organizations such as the Bucknell Student Government, the student programming board and a variety of other student organizations.

Year after year BOFers describe the lasting friendships they form and their general love for the program:

“For me, the best part about BOF was the amazing friends I made during the experience. BOF is a diverse group of students and many of my close friends are people that I might not have met otherwise. Coming into orientation with over fifty friends all around campus really made the college transition a lot more comfortable for me.” – Randy ‘10

“Through teambuilding activities I was able to have fun while learning a lot about other BOFers and myself. Some activities presented challenges that I had not expected to face, and being able to work through these with my peers helped me form strong bonds and great memories that I will never forget.” – Caitlin ‘10

There is no doubt that BOF is a “jumpstart” to your orientation at Bucknell! More information about BOF will be mailed out in early June, or you can visit our website.
